| Job Overview
Are you comfortable working in BI dashboards, pulling operational reports, and identifying anomalies independently?
The Purchasing Agent is the operational engine of Dymax’s supply chain. This role owns the day-to-day execution of procurement — monitoring demand, placing and confirming purchase orders, and keeping material flow ahead of the shop floor.
You’ll manage multiple demand streams, work directly with vendors, and support production through disciplined, timely purchasing decisions. Success requires strong systems thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to move quickly without losing accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
Demand Monitoring & PO Execution
- Monitor two demand lanes daily:
- Sage ERP (work ticket and BOM-driven demand)
- Smartsheet (general purchasing requests)
- Run net deficit reports and place POs to eliminate shortages
- Purchase to reorder point (ROP) where appropriate based on spend discipline
- Confirm vendor orders, track delivery dates, and maintain accurate records
Production Support & Order Release
- Monitor and act on prebilled orders requiring purchasing action
- Identify long lead-time items and purchase proactively
- Run Un-Issued Components reports to resolve order-specific shortages
- Ensure work order–linked materials are purchased and tracked correctly
Data Review & Reporting
- Review Inventory and Purchasing BI dashboards daily
- Identify discrepancies, risks, or anomalies and escalate as needed
- Run weekly ROP reports and execute replenishment strategy
- Maintain visibility into Smartsheet-driven procurement needs
Vendor Coordination & Escalation
- Serve as primary point of contact for vendor confirmations and follow-ups
- Escalate urgent or high-impact procurement needs with clear context
- Support transition of strategic purchases to Buyer-level ownership
- Assist with pricing and availability requests from Sales
Operations Alignment
- Participate in daily operations meetings prepared with order status updates
- Communicate material risks and incoming supply clearly and proactively
- Maintain alignment across Production, Engineering, and Inventory teams
Process Discipline & Improvement
- Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation
- Support lead time updates and reorder point analysis (quarterly)
- Contribute to continuous improvement of procurement processes and systems
