Dymax Heavy Duty Abrasion U Blades carry a wear package matched to your material: AR400 standard; Hardox® 400 or 500 for higher impact; or chrome carbide or white iron in applications where AR400 wears too fast.
The 28° U-wings hold material through the push, so you move more per pass. It bolts onto the factory outside-mount push arms on Caterpillar or Komatsu dozers, in sizes from 8.75 to 45 cubic yards.
The Balderson family pioneered the original oversized dozer blades. Five generations later, we’re still building them like Grandpa taught us.

WHAT IS A TACONITE BLADE?

A taconite blade is a heavy-duty U-blade built to survive abrasive, rocky material — taconite, iron ore, aggregate, and hard rock. It carries extra wear protection on the moldboard face and cutting edges. Ours run from 8.75 to 45 cubic yards. |
WHICH WEAR PACKAGE HOLDS UP BEST IN ABRASIVE ROCK?

It depends on how abrasive and impact-heavy your ground is. AR400 liner is standard and handles most severe-duty pushing. For higher impact, step up to Hardox® 400 or 500. Where AR400 wears too fast — taconite, high-silica fines, hard ore — we install chrome carbide or white iron wear blocks. Tell us your material and we’ll spec the package that gives you the most hours between rebuilds. |

We build abrasion U blades for Cat D6 through D11 and Komatsu D65 through D375, with capacities from 8.75 cubic yards up to 45 cubic yards on the D11. Building a blade that size is something only a handful of manufacturers in the world can do. |
WILL THESE FIT MY FACTORY PUSH ARMS?

Yes — they attach to factory outside-mounted push arms on Caterpillar and Komatsu crawler dozers. Connector blocks, pins, and retainers aren’t supplied, since those stay with your machine. |
HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT FROM A STANDARD U BLADE?
|
A standard U blade moves dirt. This one moves abrasive rock and holds up doing it — with an AR400-or-better moldboard liner, heavy T1 side cutters up to 2.5 inches, and a vertical slat rock guard. It’s also built to your machine and material. The wing angle, width, wear package, and side protection all get specified to the job. |
CAN I REPLACE JUST THE CUTTING EDGES AND WEAR LINERS?

Yes. Cutting edges and end bits are bolt-on. The wear liner packages install in sections — the chrome carbide package uses a six-piece center and four sections per wing. Rebuild the wear surface instead of the whole blade. |
