Woodchip Bowldozers: Carry the Full Load to the Hopper

The Dymax Woodchip Bowldozer is a box-style blade that delivers more material per pass with less spillage.

The leading stinger edge cuts into the pile to fill the box. Tall sidewalls then hold the load through the entire slot-doze, so it reaches the hopper instead of spilling over the ends. Lift at the end of the push, and it drops clean.

WHAT IS A WOODCHIP BOWLDOZER?

A box-style dozer blade with tall sidewalls that contain the load instead of letting it spill over the ends like a U-blade does.

It fills to capacity, holds that capacity through the entire push, and drops the load when you lift at the hopper.

Some manufacturers call it a sidewall blade.

BOWLDOZER OR WOODCHIP U-BLADE — WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?

A Woodchip U-Blade pushes massive amounts of material, but on a long slot-doze, it can lose material over its open ends.

The bowldozer’s sidewalls close that gap, so more of what you cut actually reaches the hopper.

Choose the bowldozer when the push is long, and spillage is costing you passes; choose the U-blade when you’re moving volume over shorter distances.

WHAT SIZE BOWLDOZER FITS MY DOZER?

Models run from 36.6 yd³ on a wheel-dozer (Cat 824 class) up to 80 yd³ on a Cat D9-class track dozer, in widths from 15’4″ to 22’9″.

DOES IT COME WITH SCREENS?

Yes — a screen is built into the top section with side screen windows for operator visibility, and the center plate stays solid in front of the radiator. Configurations vary by model and machine arrangement.

WHAT WEAR PARTS DOES IT USE?

Replaceable bolt-on cutting edges, plus bottom sole plate edges on the moldboard and replaceable edges at the leading stinger.
